Billy & Louie are two brothers that lead Hemel Hempstead ParkPlay in Hertfordshire

Hemel Hempstead ParkPlay launched in July 2024 and runs every Saturday from 10am at Yewtree Primary School. Billy and Louie have been involved since day one and make a brilliant team of PlayLeaders. Billy spoke to us about how he loves running ParkPlay with his brother:

“I first got involved with ParkPlay because I saw it as a brilliant way to bring people together through physical activity. As a P.E. teacher, I’m passionate about helping others stay active, and when my brother and I heard about ParkPlay, we knew we wanted to be part of it. We now run our local sessions together, which has been such a rewarding experience.

Leading ParkPlay has allowed us to create a welcoming space where people of all ages and abilities can come together, have fun, and be active for free. We’ve seen people who were shy at first grow in confidence week by week. It’s amazing how just showing up on a Saturday morning can make such a positive impact

What I love most is the community feel – everyone supports one another, and there’s always laughter and encouragement. It’s helped me grow as a person and leader, and given me fresh energy and ideas which I’ve been able to bring back into my teaching.

ParkPlay has strengthened my bond with my brother and connected us with so many great people. It’s made weekends something we genuinely look forward to.”
