What ParkPlay is all about
Our mission is to build happier and healthier communities through the life changing power of play. Which means working together with brilliant community-minded people and organisations, to make community-led play happen where there is demand, need and energy for it.
We are focused on creating free-to-attend, weekly events that are run by the local community and for the local community, where people of all ages can come together to meet, move and play.
ParkPlay is just as much about building a space for the community to be together, as it is about physical activity.
Our role in bringing ParkPlay to life where you live is to support you and other stakeholders locally to set the right conditions for ParkPlay to thrive there for the long term. We also provide all the things you need to make it a brilliant and safe event and be on hand with advice and expertise when your ParkPlay is up and running.

There are a few things we think you should know about setting up a ParkPlay.
The key to starting is the right leader and team
The most important element of establishing a ParkPlay and making it a success is finding the right person to lead it and then building a team of people who can connect ParkPlay to the community, run things week to week. Above all, local ParkPlay events need to be run by a dedicated group of community-minded individuals who are committed to its success. The reasons for needing a team at each local ParkPlay is so they can combine their collective strengths so it can thrive for the long term.
The costs to starting
We operate as an independent charity, and therefore we need to be able to cover the cost of setting up a ParkPlay. This is to help cover the costs of things like insurance and equipment.
Please do not let that put you off though, please do still enquiry and we can discuss how we might be able to support you fund the setup of ParkPlay through small grants or contacting your local authorities.
The time it takes to start
The time it takes to set up a ParkPlay can vary significantly. It all depends on how long it takes to establish a full team of dedicated people to make it happen, fully engage and excite the community about ParkPlay and galvanise local support.
Typically it takes between 2 to 4 months from start to finish. The most important thing to know though is that we never rush and will only start when you’re confident and we are confident that all the foundations are in place for it to be a success for the long-term.

Finally, establishing a ParkPlay is not an insignificant thing. Choosing to be the one to bring your community together and make play happen will require commitment and dedication.
