PlayLeaders are the people who make ParkPlay happen

There are lots of different ways to be a PlayLeader, from setting up and running games, to scanning people in when they arrive, and from welcoming in brand new ParkPlayers to getting the drinks ready afterwards.

Being a PlayLeader means doing your bit to bring the power of play to your community each week.

As a PlayLeader you are always supported

Our commitment is to support all PlayLeaders to make a success of their ParkPlays. There will be hands-on, in-park support in the initial weeks and months to make sure you feel confident and comfortable to be a PlayLeader. We also offer:

Training and support

First aid, safeguarding, tech, safety, promotion and PlayLeader training.

Ongoing support

Guides, support phone number, safeguarding support, monthly newsletter of ideas and top tips.

Community

Access to our PlayLeader digital community where there is a network of people who are also PlayLeader sharing ideas and support each other.

Resources, equipment, games and kit

Everything you need to make ParkPlay happen.

Every PlayLeader is different, but they all share a few important qualities

They love their community, and are well connected to the people around them.
They are warm and welcoming people who make sure everyone is included.
They focus on making sure everyone is playing in a way that works for them.
They’re proactive, on the front foot and are able to bring the energy.

PlayLeader FAQs

Do PlayLeaders need any prior experience?

No. Being a great PlayLeader is as much about building relationships with ParkPlayers and inspiring their community to come together and play together.

Does every PlayLeader need to be at ParkPlay every week?

No. There will always be more than one PlayLeader in a ParkPlay team so that people do not have to commit to being there every week. 

Can a PlayLeader be someone under 18?

No. 

Is running a ParkPlay just like coaching any other multi-sports session?

No. ParkPlay is not a sports session. It’s a community event. Sometimes sports coaches have the qualities needed but not necessarily.

Are PlayLeaders insured?

Yes.

If being a PlayLeader doesn’t seem quite right for you, there are other ways to be part of your local ParkPlay.

Become a ParkPlay Helper

If you are looking for a lower commitment way to get involved at ParkPlay the PlayLeaders at your local ParkPlay would love to chat to you about how you could take on one very specific role each week, or help run a game or two every few weeks for example.

Email us and we’ll connect you to the team at your local ParkPlay or feel free to go and speak to them directly at ParkPlay. They’ll welcome you as a Helper.

Become a ParkPlay PlayDirector

If you would like to take on responsibility for connecting ParkPlay into your local community and working with us to make sure that ParkPlay is as safe and as brilliant as it can be, please do email us.

Being a PlayDirector is about being the one to step up and say I will lead my community and make this ParkPlay a success for the long term. Just like with being a PlayLeader, we’ll give you plenty of support.
