Being a PlayDirector means being supported by ParkPlay every step of the way.

Training

We’ll provide you with training, that is bespoke to you and your community, on how to be an effective PlayDirector so that you feel confident to do something amazing for your community.

1 to 1 support

The ParkPlay central team will always be on hand to support you and you will have a dedicated member of the team who will check in with you regularly.

Community

As well as full access to our online ParkPlay Hub, you’ll be part of the dedicated PlayDirector group so that you can meet others like you around the country and share inspiration, stories and ideas.

Every PlayLeader is different, but they all share a few important qualities

They love their community, and are well connected to the people around them.
They are warm and welcoming people who make sure everyone is included.
They focus on making sure everyone is playing in a way that works for them.
They’re proactive, on the front foot and are able to bring the energy.

PlayDirector FAQs

Do PlayDirectors need any prior experience?

No. Being a great PlayDirectos is not about experience. It is about loving your community, knowing your community inside out, having the ability to influence other community leaders and galvanise the people around you to come to ParkPlay and also to support and manage a small local ParkPlay team week to week.

Does a PlayDirector need to be at ParkPlay every week?

No. Other members of a local ParkPlay team are responsible for leading ParkPlay week to week. But the PlayDirector might go to ParkPlay some weeks because they want to, or because they need to for a specific reason.

What is the time commitment involved in being a PlayDirector?

There is no set time commitment. In the weeks before and after launch it might be a few hours a week making sure everyone in your community knows they are invited and supporting the PlayLeaders make each ParkPlay safe and brilliant. But once a ParkPlay is established it’s a few hours a month.

Is being a PlayDirector a paid role?

It depends on the way ParkPlay has been established in an area. Sometimes there are funds to remunerate local ParkPlay team members from local funding bodies, and in other areas it is set up in a way where it is on a voluntary basis. We can support understand the way ParkPlay is established with the local funders in your area.

Can PlayDirectors also effectively be PlayLeaders?

Yes. If a PlayDirector also wants to lead ParkPlay events week to week – eg: run games and make sure it is a safe and brilliant session, then they absolutely can.
