Our PlayLeaders welcome you to the New Year
It’s a big welcome from ParkPlay
We spoke to some of our PlayLeaders and found out how welcoming they are as people, plus how seriously they take making everyone feel welcome when they first turn up. How do they go out of their way to make new people feel welcome?
Karen Edens, Treverbyn
“People arrive between 10 – 10.30am on a Saturday morning. We welcome everyone by their names and big high fives to the kids. We have a catch up with the ones who want to stand around and watch. Most grown ups/children usually grab a ball or play equipment and we have free play till 10.30.
During free play I make sure I have gone around and spoken to everyone. Some have a play with the cricket set, some just run around and they have recently been seeing how many penalties they can get past James. They love to then tell me how many.
At 10.30 we call everyone for the welcome circle. Thank everyone for coming. Celebrate any news. Run through the safety and what games we have planned. We then start the warm up where everyone joins in and I ask them to shout out the next warm up.”
“We’re lucky to have a great Community who take it in turns to bring hot water urns. Usually, when people first arrive, adults go for a hot drink while their kid(s) play. Good time for adults to catch up with no little ears hanging around. In the ‘belong’ part, everyone usually has a drink.”
You can expect a safe and inclusive welcome from your next ParkPlay.
