Herts hat trick and more!

Hertfordshire is excitedly anticipating the launch of its third ParkPlay in less than six months. Following the November 2023 launch of its inaugural ParkPlay in Cheshunt, February 2024 saw its Letchworth launch and now, hot on Letchworth’s heels, comes the launch of Borehamwood in March.

Herts Sport and Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) has been tasked with landing the initiative locally. They’re delighted to be able to reveal that plans and agreements are now in place to develop future programmes across the county including Welwyn Garden City, South Oxhey, Stevenage and Hemel Hempstead over the next 18 months.

ParkPlay’s arrival in Hertfordshire would not have been possible without the generous support of key funders Hertfordshire County Council, through their Building Life Chances Fund. In addition to its key funder, each Hertfordshire location requires significant support from their host Local Authority; which to date have been North Herts District Council, Broxbourne Borough Council and Hertsmere Borough Council. Essential too are the wonderful PlayLeaders, which HSP has been hand-picking from local communities and a special shout-out goes to Hertfordshire’s three key delivery agencies: Active in the Community, Time 4 Change, and Inspire All.

Speaking about the Hertfordshire launches Faye Lahiffe, Project Assistant at Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership, says,

“We’re excited to be working across the county with a range of valued partners to bring this great initiative to Hertfordshire. ParkPlay offers a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages across Herts to engage in two hours of free community play. It’s a perfect way to get a little active and spend quality time with family, friends, and neighbours. We see the initiative playing a vital role in strengthening communities, improving well-being, and tackling issues related to social isolation and mental health. We can’t wait to see Hertfordshire ParkPlays flourishing and developing as sustainable community projects that welcome people of all ages in Herts.”
